To plate Irons’ character in gold, working with a rotomation of the actor, Pixomondo’s FX department provided the comp department with multiple CGFX layers such as the main gold coat, reveal masks, different smokes, mists and spray elements.
Pixomondo’s efforts involved FX-heavy work creating a carbonizing and de-carbonizing effect on Veidt over three shots, turning the actor into a golden statue and reversing the process later. For the duration of the flight, Veidt is turned in to a golden statue and then brought back to his regular form when they land on Earth. In the final episode, “See How They Fly,” we find Adrian Veidt is finally able to get off Europa when his illegitimate daughter Trieu arrives in her spacecraft to retrieve him. The only quibbles that can be pointed out is that he does have a small seam, presumably from the mold he was cast from, running horizontally across his head and that you will want to be careful not to let him get knocked down from wherever you display him, because the paint at the very tip of his nose might chip, leaving a little black spot.
He's sturdy, balanced, and able to stand on just about any flat surface you can find. He comes packaged with a stand, but he doesn't actually need it. So rest easy, Amazon friends- the Ozymandias figure you buy has a 99% chance of looking just as good as the one they photographed for the page image. Even better, there seems to be far less facial variation between individual Ozymandias figures than exists with the Comedian and Silk Spectre II figures, who from what I've seen tend to be prone to some pretty unfortunate paint screwups. He really looks just like Matthew Goode did in the film- the only detail they missed was his eye color. The Watchmen series from DC Direct has to be one of the most well-done action figure lines I've ever seen, and this particular figure is EXTREMELY well-sculpted to resemble the actor and character in question.
